Open Aortic Surgery Analgesia Survey

This survey has been approved by the VASGBI Research and Audit Committee.

We would be very grateful for your support in completing this survey looking at pain relief for open aortic surgery. It should take 5-10 minutes.

Analgesia at the time of open aortic surgery is imperative however each option has its own benefits and drawbacks. Although there are a range of clinical trials in general surgery patients undergoing laparotomy, there is little data on open aortic surgery, where blood pressure control is an important component of post operative care.

The aims of this survey are to:

(i) ascertain current treatment strategies for pain relief at the time of open aortic surgery.
(ii) determine how frequently there are issues with pain management post open aortic surgery.
(iii) assess whether a clinical trial comparing analgesia modalities is warranted in open aortic surgery.

If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact Philip Stather.

You can complete this survey anonymously but if you are happy to leave your name and email address so we can contact you in the future then please do.

Responses to this survey will be collated and summarised as part of work up for a potential clinical trial. They may also be published, however we will not identify individual units or respondents in any written outputs from this survey.
